The Media Monster - Making Christians look bad

I check out the news headlines online most days too see where things are at.... I don't watch the news on TV because then I have to watch a load of rubbish for one story of interest, if any. Whereas if I can scan over headlines I am able to ignore rubbish and only open up things I feel to look into or know more  about. For example, I don't care to know how Jennifer Aniston feels about Brad Pitt proposing to Angelina Jolie... that is a waste of my time and a load of gossip. I do however find that I am compelled to open an article that has something to say about moral issues and the like. Before I even open them up I know they are going to be dead wrong with their views, after all the media is owned and operated by Satan. But I want to know what he is spinning to his zombies to keep them numb, anti-God and deceived. Its important to know, so that we know how to pray. At least that's how I feel about it.

So tonight I open up a web page, and the usual box with news headlines comes up.... doom, gloom, gossip, booorrriiiinng...lies...lies...lies..... wait...what?! get this headline:

"Is pregnancy a sin". Well of course its not you ignoramus! Throw in a sub heading like "teacher gets sacked for falling pregnant" and you know this is gonna be outrageously aggravating...but I cant turn away. I need to know the attack that has been launched. So I open up the article and of course its a big fat stab at Christian morals. The story goes that this teacher got pregnant out of wedlock. The principal fired her because it is a Christian school and part of the agreement that she signed says you must follow the Christian faith AND lifestyle according to the bible. Fair enough I say!!

So she kicks up a fuss, well actually its her sister on the news carrying on about how "we don't live in the dark ages anymore" and its "discrimination" and that they should re-assess their contracts, and get rid of that or word it differently. What does she want it more black and white than that? How about "if you aren't married don't make babies, if you do we will fire you because its against what our school stands for".....??? You would think, "live according to the Christian faith and lifestyle" would be enough. Sigh.

The media made the school and principal look like discriminative jerks... lets just flip side this a bit. What if a non-Christian teacher was in a public school and decided to teach in sex education class to "play it safe" and hand out condoms to 14 year olds (and yes, they actually do this in alot of public schools" they tell the kids the legal age for sex is 16, then give them condoms just in case. Its like, "sssh, have fun!" and the excuse? They'd rather the kids break the law with protection than without it. But its perfectly excusable for a public school to encourage illegal acts in the name of social norms. It seems it is morally acceptable to hand out condoms to underage kids... but its morally unacceptable to fire a teacher because she BROKE HER CONTRACT. And considering the contract is in line with the word of God according to many scriptures one being 1 Corinthians 5:9-13 i believe the principal made a very wise and bold decision to fire the woman.

Now I'm all for forgiveness. I know people make mistakes and do stupid things. This teacher made a boo boo getting herself preggers out of wedlock, and it has cost her her career. I also see that in her error and sin, she has at least, decided to make the correct choice to keep the baby instead of indulge in the sin of abortion for her own selfish ambition or to save face. So after her fall, she picked up her game and made a right choice. But their are still consequences to sin! The principal had a decision to make. Let her off the hook and allow her to come to work with a bulging belly and no wedding rings as a role model to the kids she teaches... or he could honour the word of God AND the contract and guidelines of the school and fire her.

She needed to be made an example of based on principal of the matter. Sure, the school can forgive her, but they couldn't allow her to stay on and show the kids that their is no meaning to a contract. After all, a contract is just today's version of a covenant and we all know how seriously God takes covenant.

Even if I was not a Christian, this situation would still bother me. Because I'd be thinking, practice what you preach!! Why is the news media pushing this whole thing as bad, when its a valid reason to be fired under the circumstances?? If you work in a Christian school, you cant get knocked up out of wedlock, is that not commonsense? Just like if your a teacher you shouldn't go taking drugs with the students on weekends. Its just not right. You have to be a role model and go by what is expected of you. Public schools have rules, Christian schools have rules. You are not exempt from the rules just because society has a different opinion.... or are you? thats the unjust part of it. If the media spin it enough, if the government turn morality on its head as they are so good at doing, all of a sudden, contract or no contract, rules and expectations go out of the window. Honouring an agreement suddenly becomes optional because you can play the victum card.

ooh it makes me angry. Satan knows how to twist things very well. He has destroyed so many things that are valued highly in the word. The family unit, the sacredness of marriage, the idea of moral absolutes. He has replaced these things with instant gratification, sexual liberty, "human rights" and statements like "born this way".

Its times like these I need to turn to the book of revelation and remind myself of who has the last laugh. My God wins the battle. He has the victory and has promised me the victory too. The world is messed up. Everything is topsy turvy upside down. The word has been forgotton, or worse, practically condemned as wrong, and evil has prevailed with a mask with many names. But Jesus warned us that these times were coming and indeed will worsen before His return. He encouraged us to look up because our redemption draws nigh. Oh how our spirits groan for relief. With every story of a neglected child, a murdered mother, a discriminated Christian group, an oppressed people, an unjust judgement, a morally incorrect law passing, a suicidal teen, and many other terribly wrong and abominable things, our souls ache and our hearts are moved towards the Savior.

We can do nothing in the natural but be a living epistle. But we do have a power far greater than any other and that is the power of prayer. We need to believe it. Faith is a doing word, and we need to have faith when we pray that God can move and answer prayer according to His will. We need to remember that prayer changes things and that our God is mighty and greatly to be praised even when things look grey. Yes, the world is only going to get worse before it gets better (when Jesus returns). Yes, there will always be unfair and wrong things happening to all kinds of people. We cannot stop that because God has already said it will be so. But we also know that our great commission is to allow God to use us to pluck as many souls out of the quicksand as we can in our lifetime. Prayer is the groundwork. The foundation. We must be prayerful believers in order to be effective fishers of men.

Whenever you see injustice and sin abounding, remember the grace of God abounds much more and all you can do is pray over what you see. Let God do the rest. Allow Him to be in control. Some things you will see miraculously change and you can praise Him for that. Some other things will never change unless they change for the worse, but know that we do not see the bigger picture as God sees it. I will leave you with a line from an old hymn that springs to mind...

"Trust and obey, for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey."

cling to Him and His promise of victory and you will be able to soldier on through this worlds mire with hope in your heart.

"I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person."
